State ups charge in fatal hunting accident

Johnny Farmer was unaware he would be taken back into custody after a March 6 arraignment for the accidental hunting death of a longtime friend. However, the State Attorney’s Office chose to up a second-degree count to a first-degree charge March 5 after a judge tossed out an additional felony Feb. 1.

Clary issued $6,300 citation

Former state senator Charles Clary has been issued a $6,300 citation for clearing land without a permit last October. The incident resulted in the destruction of protected trees on a roughly 3.5-acre parcel he owns on U.S. 98 near Cotton Bay Estates subdivision.
