Gulf Breeze residents frustrated with the state of their flood-damaged homes gathered for a town hall meeting Monday night at the Gulf Breeze Community Center.

More than 80 people attended a special county commission meeting held Monday evening to discuss sites for the proposed new courthouse. A Milton man who was struck by a car while walking along County Road 191 died April 10, nearly a month after the accident happened. According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, 36-year-old Larry McKinley was walking southbound March 8 when he was hit by a car driven by 27-year-old Jennifer Campbell.

Former Santa Rosa County Commissioner Byrd Mapoles said when the county began buying large parcels of land in East Milton in the mid-1990s there were plans to build a new courthouse next to Santa Rosa County jail. A road adjacent to the jail was even named Judicial Boulevard in anticipation of a future judicial facility.
