Last summer, Paul Taylor, a science teacher at Navarre High School, reached out to the community seeking donations to create a fishing section within his marine biology class.
The Navarre Beach Marine Science Station has been chosen to host the Guy Harvey Saltwater Fishing Camp, making it one of only five facilities in Florida to offer the prestigious camp.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will issue a School Fishing Club Grant to 50 schools for the upcoming school year, two of which are in Santa Rosa County. The School Fishing Club Program is an annual educational grant program that teaches youth anglers about best fishing practices to help ensure the future of fishing in Florida.
It’s been 22 months since Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center set up fishing line recycling bins on Navarre Fishing Pier. The bins were erected as part of the Monofilament Recycling Program with the goal of reducing environmental damage caused by discarded fishing line.
The Okaloosa Gas Navarre Fishing Rodeo is celebrating its 10th anniversary of the first weekend in October. This year’s event will take place Oct. 1 and 2 in conjunction with Santa Rosa County’s Fish Navarre Weekend.
