Pier bar is back with new name, new look

The deck of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier was buzzing with activity March 15 in spite of chilly, windy weather. Locals and tourists mingled, enjoying live music at the re-opening of the pier’s outdoor bar, which has been named Lagerheads.

Commissioner Cole pays a visit to the NBLRA

The Florida Department of Business Professional Regulations (FDBPR) has been busy conducting food service inspections in the Navarre area in 2014 and results from their work have ranged from perfect scores and met inspection standards to 23 violations and follow-up inspections required.

Future of existing courthouse

Milton attorney Matthew Hargraves started a petition to keep the courthouse downtown. However, Guy Thompson, mayor of the City of Milton, opposes the idea. Thompson and others hope the facility will become a community center, featuring retail stores and possibly an expanded library.

No criminal charges in 2013 fatal crash near Hurlburt

The Florida Highway Patrol reported March 18 that no criminal charges are being filed in a seven-vehicle fatal accident that occurred June 13, 2013, at Cody Avenue and Highway 98. Two Bradenton, Fla. residents, 66-year-old Kurt Graetzer and 63-year-old Pamela Graetzer died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities seek help in Arson investigation

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office announced March 14 that they are seeking assistance from the public in solving an arson investigation. The sheriff’s office is working with the Division of State Fire Marshal’s Office on the case.

ATMORE, Ala. (AP) — The National Weather Service says winds blowing as strong as 110 mph are responsible for storm damage in the southwestern Alabama town of Atmore.
