Santa Rosa County Navarre Community Access Road Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) Study virtual project update

| Staff Reporters
Santa Rosa County is undergoing a PD&E Study in an effort to create a Navarre Community Access Road. A virtual project update is currently available online at www.santarosa.fl.gov/1033/Navarre-Community-Access-Road.

This project is intended to create an east-west connector as a parallel route for residents north of U.S. 98. The proposed access road will connect existing collector roads with a new road. The project limits are from Edgewood Drive on the western end to Panhandle Trail on the eastern end, with U.S. 98 as the southern boundary.

The PD&E Study has developed and evaluated alternative roadway alignments to determine a preferred alternative that will enhance safety and provide system connectivity. The proposed new road will include pedestrian and bicyclist features.

During the PD&E Study, an analysis evaluated the social, economic, cultural, natural, and physical effects of the alternatives. A Location and Design Concept of the project was developed in accordance with Santa Rosa County and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) policy, procedures, and requirements.

Proposed improvements will support all modes of transportation, including roadway capacity, bicycles, and pedestrians. Final design, right of way, and construction are currently not funded.
