Santa Rosa County Animal Services to participate in Petco Love Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event

All adoption fees will be waived for pets at the Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter at 4451 Pine Forest Road in Milton. The shelter is open on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.santarosa.fl.gov/animals to view current adoptable animals. All pets will be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations.
According to the most recent nationwide data, Florida ranks 46th in the nation when it comes to saving the lives of pets in shelters. In 2024, 37,683 dogs and cats were euthanized in animal shelters across Florida (Shelter Animals Count, https://www.shelteranimalscount.org/explore-the-data/state-level-animal-welfare-statistics-dashboard/).
With help from Petco Love, local animal shelters are aiming to close that gap by finding homes for 2,000 pets in three days. 1,949 dogs and cats found new, loving homes during the 2024 Petco Love Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event. The 2025 event will include nearly 50 organizations across 31 counties, and thousands of pets will be available for adoption.
“There is nothing more powerful than the moment a shelter pet meets their new family and that’s the heart of this incredible statewide event,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “By uniting animal welfare organizations across Florida, we’re not only finding homes for pets, we’re creating thousands of new beginnings filled with hope, healing, and unconditional love. That’s the power of community, and that’s the power of love.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Petco Love again for the Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event,” said Santa Rosa County Animal Services Chief Randy Lambert. “By waiving all adoption fees, we’re making it easier than ever for families to open their hearts and homes. It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the wonderful animals in our care and help them find loving forever homes.”
The Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event is powered by a lifesaving investment from Petco Love for the Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) and is facilitated by JHS’s Florida Leaders in Lifesaving program.
