Saints Recovery helps homeless in Navarre

Jeff Davis was working in the kitchen of a church when he thought about helping those in need in the Navarre area.

“There was always all of this food left over after we fed everyone and I thought, ‘Man, this is crazy. There are so many people that could use this food,’ ” Davis said. “I wondered why we were throwing it away. I felt like the Lord was speaking to me to go out and help others out.”

Jeff and his wife, Kathy, have been helping others ever since through their Saints Recovery program, which became an official nonprofit six months ago.

Saints Recovery is responsible for treating, caring for and ministering to more than 50 homeless people and helping an average of nine needy families in the Navarre community each week.

Care packages are provided to the families each Tuesday.

The homeless numbers fluctuate each week. They are provided with counsel, prayer and hot meals during the winter months. They receive sandwich meals in the summer months.

Kathy said it’s a good feeling being able to help others.
