Retention wall fails, sends cascade of red clay into Santa Rosa Sound

The contractor for a new development on the Santa Rosa Sound has been fined for allowing an illegal discharge into the waterway. Red clay colored the waterway along the shoreline after a retaining wall apparently was breached.
Neighbors of Soundside Hollow called county offices April 9 to tell them that the red clay fill on that construction site had stained the Santa Rosa Sound red.
