Red-flag conditions erode shoreline

As nasty weather over the past weeks has brought red-flag conditions to Navarre Beach, sands dredged to the shore during the beach renourishment were pulled back into the waters, but County Engineer Roger Blaylock says not to worry, it’s a natural process that occurs over time.
As weather conditions begin the erosion process to Navarre Beach, sea oats planted along the dunes during renourishment are expected to reduce the erosion to these natural barriers. But the dunes cannot protect against waves and tides.
