Proposed land buy stirs opposition for new courthouse

Sharon Glass agrees it is time to replace the 87-year-old county courthouse. However, she and other local Tea party leaders plan to fight Santa Rosa County’s plans to ask voters to buy new land for it. Opponents say the county has enough undeveloped land and should use a parcel already in inventory or consider a free land offer.
Commissioners plan to ask voters to support a local sales tax increase to replace the aging county courthouse. Tea party leaders vow to oppose the vote if it includes buying land.
