Oilseed cover crop more than cuts the mustard

Higher yields and federal tax credits could make carinata – Ethiopian mustard – a more popular cover-crop choice for Northwest Florida farmers. Carinata, a sustainable non-food cover crop grown between primary crops, helps farmers protect and improve soil health and also is used to make low-carbon advanced biofuel for the aviation industry and as a supplement in feedstock.
Derek Barber, NuSeed field sales manager for the Southeastern United States, explains the benefits of using carinata as a winter cover crop between fall and spring.
