Thirteen percent of 18 to 20 year olds who were involved in an automobile crash admitted they were sending or receiving text messages, according to the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. The institute also found text messaging increased the risk for crashes by 23 percent.
Baylee Rice, 14, receives a “citation” after she drove a vehicle that simulated driving under the influence during the Unite Arrive Alive Tour at Navarre High School Nov. 7. The tour raises awareness for the dangers associated with distracted driving and driving under the influence.
