Navarre First Assembly of God prepares for Day of Hope

| Hansen Hasenberg
Navarre First Assembly of God is all about community outreach, hosting various events throughout the year to give to the needy and invite families to check out what the church has to offer spiritually. This Saturday, Aug. 2, the church will be holding a community outreach event called ‘Day of Hope.’

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Navarre First Assembly will be giving out free lunches, children’s haircuts, backpacks and groceries for families in the Navarre area. The annual event regularly draws 500 people or more. Volunteers with the church go around with a wagon and fill it up with a variety of non-perishable items to give to each family which comes to the event. In addition to the give away items, members of the church are also available to pray with Navarre residents.

“We are always looking for a way to bless the community,” said Pastor Jon Skipper.

Day of Hope will include backpacks and school supplies.

Thursday, July 31, the church spent the day unloading boxes of non-perishable items, from sports drinks to Brawny paper towels, from a semi-truck. Skipper said the church is looking for volunteers to help organize produce and other items on Friday, Aug. 1 at the church. Navarre First Assembly is located at 9594 Navarre Parkway.
