Pastor Dr. Dennis Brunet, who has led Midway since 1991, said the conference is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with the meaning of Christ’s sacrifice ahead of Easter.
“In this day of nonstop activities and news, Easter has become little more than a speed bump,” Brunet said. “Let’s do more than slow down but stop and ponder the love and sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Strange how preaching Jesus crucified no longer fits the Easter marketing of colored eggs and chocolate rabbits. And yet, preaching on the cross has always seemed foolish. 1 Cor. 1:18 “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God.” We need more than candy, we need Christ!”
On Friday, the church will discuss “The Way of the Cross.” On Saturday, the 9 a.m. service will focus on “The Weight of the Cross” and the 10:30 a.m. service will focus on “The Win of the Cross.”
At 10 a.m., there will be a break for brunch.
On Sunday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m., church speakers will share messages within the theme of “The Witness of the Cross.”
Child care services will be provided at all church services for those children birth to age five.
