Merry May Christmas sale at Good Neighbor Thrift Store

Forget Christmas in July, Christmas came even earlier at Good Neighbor Thrift Store this year.

The thrift store is having a huge Christmas sale for the month of May called Merry May. Come stock up your Christmas supplies with cute decorations, festive outfits, artificial trees and ornaments at five for $1.

Mark your calendars May 14 for the Postal Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Leave non-perishable in your mailbox that day and it will be collected by the postal service and donated to several local pantries, including We Care Ministries.

Good Neighbor Thrift Store, We Care Ministries and the Lindy Bush Food Pantry are all ministries of the Navarre United Methodist Church.

If you come to Good Neighbor Thrift Store on a Friday, you’ll find a weekly Friday sale on clothing. All children’s clothing is $1.50 and adult clothing is $2.50, no matter what it is.

“People will come up to the register with stacks of hangers and we just count the hangers and multiply,” manager Laura Beth Snow said.

Good Neighbor constantly has sales going on. The type of sale depends on the availability of volunteers, inventory and what they have a lot of each week.

“Every day that the store is opened, I have something half-priced or a buy-one get-one-free special,” Snow said.

The greeter will tell you the Good Neighbor Deal of the Day when you walk-in the doors.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the fun 25-Cent Cart. You never know what you’re going to find.

“Anything that I’m tired of looking at, I figure so is everybody else, so it goes on the 25-Cent-Cart,” Snow said, laughing.

Good Neighbor welcomed Candace Anderson as their new assistant manager in February.

“I saw what the thrift store was doing for the community, and I wanted to be a part of it,” Anderson said. “I love it.”

The store is open four days a week for shopping – Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you would like to help at the store, call Good Neighbor today. Hours worked can go toward community service hours, if needed. The thrift store is up to 80 volunteers.

On top of the frequent sales, Good Neighbor offers 10% off to all military servicemen and woman.

Stay tuned to Good Neighbor’s Facebook page for the new and hot deals each week. Snow makes an entertaining Facebook Live once a week where she shows fun finds.

Anytime the thrift store is open, volunteers are accepting donations on the side door of the building. Good Neighbor has a finite amount of space, so furniture is accepted as space allows.

All items that are seasonal and can’t be used at Good Neighbor are handed off to Waterfront Mission so everything donated goes to good use.

We Care Ministries food pantry, located in the back of the store, provides food and essentials to families in need and assists locals with paying their essential bills.

“We feed people – that’s what we do,” Snow said.
