Jake and Luke Losquadro are brothers. They are also fierce competitors.
As members of Navarre’s swim team, the two competed against each other in the 50-meter freestyle in Friday’s District 1-3A meet at the University of West Florida.
Jake was in lane six, Luke swam in lane eight.
Jake prevailed. But not by much.
Jake advanced to the regional in the event, finishing fourth in a time of 23.94. His younger brother, Luke, took fifth in a time of 24.09 and missed a regional berth by less than a second.
The Region 1-3A regional is today at Bartram Trail.
“It’s scary because he’s a little too fast. I’m always afraid he’s going to beat me,” Jake said.
The district meet marked the final time the two competed against each other as Raiders. They have enjoyed the experience.
“It’s awesome and I’m proud of him and what he’s done this season,” Jake said. “He’s going to end up better than me.”
