Much of Jaws 2 was filmed on Navarre Beach. The shark scenes in the water were produced in Navarre because the water was warm and deep enough for the platform the shark was propped up on. Locals were hired as extras for the film.
Navarre Beach’s Holiday Inn, known popularly as the “Holi-Dome,” was the site of the film’s opening scene. It also served as temporary housing for cast and crew, who provided a boon for the local economy. The Holi-Dome was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and never rebuilt.
Grab-a-Bite Food Court is located at 5260 Gulf Breeze Parkway in Midway. The food court is home to Deli Dudes, a bar and several food trucks.
