Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard the term “probiotics.” But what are they? Do we really need them or are they just another trendy buzzword? And if we do need them, what’s the best way to get them?
To set the scene, it’s important, and kind of creepy, to acknowledge that there are more than 70 trillion human cells in our bodies. What’s really interesting is that we have just as many, if not more, non-human cells (called the microbiome) in our body. So, if there are 70 trillion human cells running around making things function in our bodies, there are at least 70 trillion non-human cells also helping, hindering or hanging around.
