Santa Rosa Sheriff’s deputies arrested a teen in Navarre Tuesday for allegedly stealing a donation jar meant to offer support after a recent death.
According to an arrest report, a manager at El Patron restaurant in Navarre reviewed security footage and spotted a male take a clear glass jar from atop the hostess stand Nov. 16. The jar had been placed there to collect donations following the death of a local citizen.
There was $200 in the jar at the time according to the manager’s statement.
The restaurant staff posted the video to Facebook, and the man was identified as Marvin Lewis Bryant, 18, of Navarre.
Sheriff’s deputies positively identified Bryant, and he was arrested Nov. 20.
Bryant is charged with first degree misdemeanor theft. He is in Santa Rosa County Jail on $1,000 bond.
