Gaetz’s medical marijuana bill passes committee

The Moseleys A bill introduced by State Representative Matt Gaetz that would decriminalize the use of cannabidiol (CBD), a noneuphoric ingredient found in some marijuana plants, passed its first committee stop March 5 in Tallahassee. Members of the the House Criminal Justice Committee approved the measure 11 to 1.

Gulf Breeze resident Holley Moseley attended the hearing in support of the measure, which she believes would greatly benefit her 11-year-old daughter RayAnn. The Moseley’s had made other trips to Tallahassee before the start of the session to push for passage of the bill.

The bill will next be heard by the House Appropriations Committee, and if approved there then by the House Judicial Committee. A similar bill introduced in the Senate has yet to have its first hearing.
