Tyler Clayton Hale and Jennifer Leslie Pope were arrested and charged with Human Trafficking and Deriving Support from the Proceeds of Prostitution.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrest report says Hale was running a prostitution ring in both Okaloosa and Walton Counties that involved numerous adult girls and he advertised them on a website known as backpage.com. Based on victim and witness accounts, Hale forced the girls to engage in sex for money by beating them, threatening to kill or harm them and by using a controlled substance (i.e. Heroin) to maintain control of them and make them dependent on the substance.
According to one of the victims, Hale would make the girls work all night and into the morning having sex with different men, threaten to kick them out on the street if they stopped prostituting and would take all of their money so they didn’t have enough to pay for food to eat.
Hale answered phone calls made in response to the website’s ad, arranged the locations for sex and transported the girls to the predetermined locations. Once at the agreed upon location, Hale would standby in the area until the act was over.
Pope was charged as well for assisting Hale with the prostitution ring. She posted many of the ads on backpage.com and according to a witness, answered phone calls related to the ads posted, did the girls’ laundry and drove the girls to locations for sex.
Hale has prior arrests for battery, weapons, and drug charges and Pope has prior arrests involving drug charges.
