Good Neighbor thanks volunteers for making a difference

Snowbird season is in full swing, and a lot of those snowbirds graciously flock to Good Neighbor Thrift Store to spend some of their free time volunteering in the beach town they have come to know and love.

“Our snowbirds are back, and we are blessed to have them,” Manager Laura Beth Snow said. “Good Neighbor Thrift Store is an awesome place to meet and socialize, all while serving the community.”

Snow is very thankful for the numerous volunteers, locals and snowbirds alike, that dedicate their time to helping the mission of Good Neighbor Thrift Store.

“Most volunteers have a sort of niche, an area they love working in,” Snow said.

Glassware volunteer Patty Zehnder is a snowbird from Minnesota and loves helping at the store weekly, alongside her husband Dennis.

“We enjoy this a lot, or we wouldn’t be here. The people are fabulous here. Everybody here is like family,” Zehnder said.

Good Neighbor is a great place to serve or shop.

Looking for a one-of- a-kind find, affordable clothes or Mardi Gras or Valentine’s Day decorations? Maybe you’re searching for the perfect gift and don’t want to break the bank. Come shop at Good Neighbor Thrift Store. You might just find the perfect treasure.

And what is the best part of shopping here? Proceeds of the store go back into ministry and directly help the people of Navarre.

They are open, both for shopping and accepting donations, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Good Neighbor Thrift Store, We Care Ministries and the Lindy Bush Food Pantry are all ministries of Navarre United Methodist Church. The thrift store helps fund multiple missions such as Navigators, Gideons International, feeding Navarre school children through the Weekend Food Program, Walk on Water Prison Ministry, Bright Bridge Ministries, Set Free Refuge, Navarre Senior Center, Wreaths Around America and Reboot, among many other missions.

They also help provide more than 10,000 food bags to Navarre students during the school year through the Weekend Food Program.

The program has an enthusiastic volunteer pool – passionate about feeding those who might need a little help over the weekend.

Every Friday, Good Neighbor Thrift Store has huge discounts on all clothing. They sell between 700-900 pieces of clothing every Friday.

“That’s how we keep the clothing turned over and our inventory fresh every day,” Snow said.

Their inventory is vast, ranging from furniture and household goods to books, board games and handbags.

“We take pride in our merchandise being clean and functional,” Snow said. “We test things to ensure everything is working.”

Good Neighbor constantly has sales going on. The type of sale depends on the availability of volunteers, inventory and what they have a lot of each week.

“Every day that the store is open, we have something half-priced or a buy-one-get-one-free special,” Snow said.

Make sure to stay tuned to their Facebook page for upcoming sales and special events.

The greeter will tell you the Good Neighbor Deal of the Day when you walk through the doors.

On top of the frequent sales, Good Neighbor offers 10% off to all military servicemen and women.
