FWC in process of reclassifying manatee status

Katie Tripp won’t argue that the manatee population in Florida is at a healthy level.
The Florida manatee was first listed as an endangered species in 1966. When surveys were done from the air in 1991, there were an estimated 1,267 manatees in the state. The population has soared to more than 6,300 today.
