Future of existing courthouse

Milton attorney Matthew Hargraves started a petition to keep the courthouse downtown. However, Guy Thompson, mayor of the City of Milton, opposes the idea. Thompson and others hope the facility will become a community center, featuring retail stores and possibly an expanded library.
A banner was displayed in downtown Milton during the recent Scratch Ankle festival, urging leaders to keep the courthouse at its present location, but Milton’s mayor opposes the idea.
