Upon arrival, crews from Engine 41, Engine 45, Squad 44 and Engine 37 began attacking the fire from inside the home.

According to Midway, firefighters pulled down ceiling in the affected area and extinguished the fire. While the exact cause of the fire is undetermined, the fire appeared to have originated near a chimney flue.

While crews continued with their operations inside the home, a waterlogged section of sheetrock fell from the ceiling, striking a firefighter from Engine 37 in the head and shoulders.

He was immediately removed from the home, evaluated on scene and transported to Sacred Heart Emergency Room in Navarre. He was treated and later released.
