Fire districts face busy weekend, preventable fires

Holley Navarre Fire District had higher than usual call volumes the weekend of Sept. 13 and 14 which included one brush fire set by a 9-year-old, an unattended yard fire and an unattended kitchen fire.
Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire Sunday, Sept. 14. “Unattended cooking is the leading cause of residential structure fires,” HNFD Battalion Chief Howie Rounsaville said.
