Drowning scares lead to short-term rental safety questions

Two recent close calls for pediatric drowning and a fire alarm incident have called into question safety at short-term rentals in Navarre.

On June 16 and 21, Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to two calls for service related to drowning.

Holley-Navarre Fire District says they are looking into how many short term rentals are in the area and how often calls for service involve them. Two recent child drowning calls prompted the inquiry. The children involved in both calls survived.
