Florida currently has more deputized state law enforcement officers under 287(g) task force deputizations than any other state in the nation. Additionally, more than 100 Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were recently sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals. This authority now empowers our state troopers to execute federal warrants and remove dangerous criminals from our communities.

Nicknamed ‘Operation Tidal Wave,’ the illegal immigration coordination effort has led to over 1,100 illegal immigrant apprehensions.

“Florida has led the nation on immigration enforcement, and we’re ready to do even more,” DeSantis said. “We’ve submitted a plan to the federal government to contribute new detention facilities and expanded apprehension efforts to their ongoing mission to reclaim America’s sovereignty.”

In a press release, the Governor’s Office said Florida is ready to do even more.

Florida recently submitted a plan to the federal government to contribute new detention facilities and expanded apprehension efforts to their ongoing mission to “reclaim American’s sovereignty.” Florida’s plan also includes a proposal to help expedite immigration legal processing by deputizing Florida National Guard JAGS as immigration judges.
