Curtain lowers on Navarre’s volleyball season

Navarre’s volleyball season came to an end Tuesday night.

The Raiders were overwhelmed by powerhouse Niceville in a District 1-8A semifinal match. They lost in three games, falling 25-8, 25-18 and 25-12, and finish the year with an 8-18 record.

First-year head coach Ryan Davenport gathered his team together after the match had ended, the sting of the finality of the moment still sinking in. He talked to the players about the strides they made during a season that was certainly challenging at times.

“I told them that if we go back and watch the film from the beginning of the season and look at where we were and where we are now, it’s just monumental,” Davenport said. “It took all 14 of us. I just appreciate the buy in, the hard work and the teamwork. I’m extremely proud of this group.”
