Community rallies around local teen fighting rare disease
17-year-old Navarre High School student Katie Harrell was diagnosed with meningitis and encephalitis of the brain Oct. 17.
Katie Harrell, left, is fighting a rare disease that has kept her in the hospital since Oct. 17, where her mother Rhonda has remained by her side. Community support has also been part of the story as more than 130 people have supported the family financially on a fundraising website.
