Celebrate Christmas British style at British Pedlar
“Wassail” originates in the Old Norse drinking salutation “Ves heil” (“Be well”) of over 1,000 years ago. Centuries later, Wassailing was popularized in Old England as a seasonal singing ritual to ensure a good cider apple harvest. Eventually, wassailing evolved into a tradition of Twelfth Night. The hot wassail drink has since become popularly associated with winter holidays.
McGowan’s Olde Tyme Wassail is now available at British Pedlar. Come taste a hot sample today.
Englishman Michael Blois, who grew up in north London, has owned British Pedlar located at 7552 Harvest Village Court in Navarre for five years now. He has a heart for sharing British culture with the community of Navarre and beyond.
The British Pedlar offers authentic food and specialty gifts from all of the British isles. They have a little bit of everything, from a variety of frozen meats and tasty pies to delicious crumpets and sweet chocolate treats.
They also carry UK-themed gifts such as teapots and engraved cutting boards. The store’s garden flags are only $11.99. They carry England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales flags and they make a beautiful accent in your yard.
Michael says British Pedlar is filled with all the good memories of home. It reminds him of a shop he used to visit as a boy.
He has fond memories of going into the store to buy some sweets, just like other children can at British Pedlar.
With the finest variety of Cadbury’s chocolate bars, you won’t find anywhere else, it is hard to leave the store without a bit of something sweet.
Come taste the authentic chocolate bar brands such as Flake, Crunchie, Twirl, Wispa and many more delights.
Michael started out as “British Pedlar’s best customer” and became the owner Aug. 13, 2018.
“I fancied a change in life, and I have really enjoyed it. It’s been great, and the customers are fantastic,” Michael said.
When asked what makes him stand out amongst his competition, Michael replied, “We’re not better, we’re different. No shop is better than anyone else. We try to bring more of the traditional British and Irish food.”
Their groceries are made from more natural ingredients than typical American food and drinks.
“Our sweets are made with fruit, not a chemical, and all of our sodas are made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. And most Cadbury chocolate, their first ingredients are milk and cocoa, not sugar,” Michael said.
In addition, if there is a specific British item that a customer can’t find at the store, Michael will try to track down the item for you online. The British Pedlar also has an online inventory that can be found on www. BritishPedlar.com with all the same items in the store.
“It’s probably the best place in the area to come and get a taste of the United Kingdom,” Michael said.
