Car crashes into Tiger Point home, no injuries reported

Midway Fire District had to rebuild part of a home Sunday, Jan. 26, after a vehicle crashed into it.

On that Sunday, at approximately 5:30 PM, Midway Fire District Engine 35, Truck 36, and Battalion Chief 35 responded to the 1000 block of Lionsgate Lane following a 911 report of a vehicle crash involving a home.

An SUV crashed into a home on Lionsgate Lane in Tiger Point Lane on Jan. 26.

The caller reported that a vehicle had crashed into a residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver had already exited the vehicle and was uninjured.

Firefighters assessed the structural integrity of the home and determined it required stabilization. A crew was dispatched to acquire the necessary lumber to shore up the structure. Meanwhile, Florida Power & Light arrived on the scene to secure the power to the affected home.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Earlier in the afternoon, Midway Engine 35, Truck 36 and Battalion Chief 35 were dispatched to Sandy Buff Drive (W) for an A.T.V. accident.  The driver apparently slid on some loose gravel and was thrown off the vehicle.  The driver sustained serious injuries and was declared a “Trauma Alert”.  The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
