Wendy Victora Rudman: Mitten up, cold weather sticking around

I’m not sure how I survived growing up in Illinois, why I thought it was fun to strap on shoes with blades on them and stumble across a frozen river.

I waited for the bus in sub-freezing temperatures and considered it normal to don layers of clothing so thick I couldn’t press my arms down to my sides. It took 10 minutes to get dressed to step out the front door and almost that long to take it all off again.

Officials: More vaccines on way, cases rising

Less than a week after the first Santa Rosa County officials got the first call about COVID-19 vaccines being on the way, 5,000 have already been administered.

Another 2,000 individuals 65 and older are scheduled to be vaccinated next week and officials are still setting up new dates and sites the coming days and weeks.

Scott, Rubio split on election certification

Florida’s Republican U.S. senators took decidedly different paths when voting on whether to certify results of the 2020 presidential election during a joint session of Congress that lasted into the wee hours Thursday morning.

Congress cemented President-elect Joe Biden’s victory after supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol and put a halt to debate as senators, U.S. representatives and aides were rushed to safety.
