Park ranger recognized for saving two Navy cadets from drowning
Violent waves crashed the shore March 27 as U.S. park ranger Andrew Robinson dove into the cold Gulf of Mexico at Opal Beach to save two distressed swimmers about 100 yards out.
A 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, both Navy cadets, got caught in a rip current that pushed them out into the rough waters past the breaking point that Saturday afternoon. Robinson scanned the water after being alerted by a beachgoer and noticed them struggling to stay afloat. He immediately took action.

And then there were three … emergency rooms in Navarre
The new Ascension Sacred Heart ER in Navarre held a ribbon-cutting Monday and will open to patients Tuesday, April 13 at 7 a.m., providing 24-hour emergency care to all ages.
Navarre ER, associated with Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, which held a ribbon cutting April 1, announced Monday that it would open at the same time.
That brings the total of emergency rooms in Navarre to three. Baptist Hospital opened theirs in the fall.
