During World War II, American aviation took off. American production of airplanes went from around 3,000 planes in 1939 to 300,000 by the war’s end. In the years after the war, these planes were increasingly being scrapped.
School Board names five assistant principals, coordinator of social studies

The Santa Rosa County School Board recently announced the appointment of six people to new positions at schools across the district. Five of the six positions are assistant principals at SS. Dixon Intermediate School, S.S. Dixon Primary, Sims Middle, Oriole Beach Elementary and East Bay K-8 School.

Navarre Beach Marine Science Station is connecting kids with the latest technology for marine and oceanic research. While most of the people coming through the science station are high schoolers during the school year, the station regularly welcomes younger-aged students for summer camps.

Sheriff issues fraud alert for Aron Carrillo

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Fraud Alert to the public on Aron Carrillo Jimenez and his company, Tres Carrillos LLC.
Carrillo, 34, has been charged with grand theft, two counts of contracting without a license and failing to obtain building permits throughout the Florida Panhandle, Alabama and Louisiana.

From July 16 to 24, 1969, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins ventured where no human being had gone before, the moon’s surface. Armstrong was the first to step out onto the moon’s surface. During his moonwalk, Armstrong said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream is looking to open in September, according to the restaurant’s owner.
Jen Harding, and her husband, Jeff, have been working to develop the restaurant in Navarre for the past few years. The 5,400 square foot restaurant, which will be located on two acres along Highway 87 S north of the High School Blvd. intersection, broke ground on Jan. 5.
