Regional tournament opportunity big step forward for Raider softball team
Six runs. And then five runs. The route was on. Navarre’s softball team was pounding away on Tate in a District 1-6A semifinal at home on a Monday evening in early May.
The Raiders score 14 runs in all in a 10-run win over the Aggies that secures their berth in the regional for the first time since 2019.

Emily Madril making most of opportunities as a pro
Emily Madril has moved past the excitement of National Women’s Soccer League Draft, where she was taken third overall by the Orlando Pride, and has settled into life as a pro in the United States.
In the days after that draft in February, the former Navarre Raider and Florida State standout talked about the road ahead at this level of soccer and her readiness to embrace the challenges of it.

Plenty of talent returning for Raider baseball team in 2024
Navarre’s baseball team looked doomed to struggle through a less than mediocre season. At one point, the Raiders were just 3-11.
But a late-season surge gave the Raiders momentum to build on for 2024.

Navarre alum Michael Sandle finding his stride at Triple-A level
With one swing of the bat Michael Sandle absolutely crushes the pitch fired at him. He sends the ball screaming over the wall in left and then rounds the bases at Greater Nevada Field in Reno as if it was no big deal.
Sandle has hit home runs before in his career. In high school. In college. Even in the pros. But this one is different for the Navarre alum.

Jeffcoat named coach of the year in Gulf South Conference
The University of West Florida baseball team saw two of its own recognized this week.
Mike Jeffcoat has been named the coach of the year in the Gulf South Conference and Dalton Neuschwander has been tabbed the Pitcher of the Year for the conference.

Runner-up finish in district final not end of road for Raiders
Jessi Farrer swung fast and swung hard, the ball zipping into the outfield. Cailyn Cooke scored off the clutch hit. So did Natalia Taylor.
In that joyous moment, a moment buzzing with energy and excitement, Cooke jumped up and down and got pumped up near home plate as the Raiders breathed new life into their hopes for an upset of the No. 1 team in the state Wednesday night in a District 1-6A final.

Promising future ahead for Raider baseball team
One final out closed the door on a season, that, while not championship worthy, it wasn’t sunflower seeds on the dugout floor either.
Once left for dead after a seven-game losing streak a few weeks into the year, Navarre found new life as the season progressed. But the road ended here in Pace late last Tuesday night, the Raiders walking off the field after a 13-0 loss to the host Patriots.
