Blue Wahoos hosting summer celebration
The Blue Wahoos are hosting a summer celebration July 3 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola.
General admission is $5, though there is a VIP ticket available for the Hancock Whitney Club in the stadium, and it includes a full buffet, drinks, dessert and a cash bar.

Navarre DL Will Payton back playing football after future once in doubt
Will Payton was in pain. A concern, perhaps, but then, maybe there wasn’t much of a reason to read too much into it. Aches and pains come with the territory in the unforgiving sport of football.
“At first, I thought it was just breaking back into practice, but the more I practiced, the worse it got,” Payton said. “I started to realize I need to get this checked out. Something is wrong.”

Winning isn’t the only thing, but it seems to be a regular thing for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Especially when it comes to championships. The reigning Southern League champs clinched the first-half South Division crown Wednesday night in Tennessee, beating the Smokies 3-1.

Tyrell Marshall still feels like he has a lot to prove
Tyrell Marshall battled through pain last year to be on the field. A shoulder injury since his freshman season was something he played through before getting surgery on it at the end of last season.
And now Marshall is on the road back to being the player he knows he can be this coming season for the Navarre football team.

Simmons setting herself up for big senior season in hoops
A youth camp that Madison Simmons is helping out with is wrapping up, and the Navarre girls basketball standout is asked about the upcoming summer workouts and the fact that her senior year is rapidly approaching.
“It’s crazy it’s almost senior year,” Simmons said. “(High school) went by really fast.”

Michael Sandle is currently batting .234 for the Asheville Tourists, the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Meanwhile, Matt Cronin remains out of action for the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Cronin has been out since late May.
