For God’s Sake
My wife says I can find a topic for a column in the most mundane things. I think she is exaggerating. Anyway, I was walking from the kitchen to my office with a full cup of coffee trying not to spill. It seemed that the more I focused on not spilling, the more likely it was that I would. Out and About
We have some information on the candidates running for the Holley Navarre Water System board of directors – and how to vote. There are quite a few candidates vying for three seats on the board. Two of those on the list are incumbents; Joe Campbell and Daryl Lynchard, and you will probably recognize a few more names in the running. You can read about the candidates on page 5A. Their election day and annual meeting date is Jan. 21, 2025.

County needs Transportation Development District
Well, another Santa Rosa County Election with a disappointing result. On November 5th, voters rejected a 1/2 cent sales tax to be dedicated to infrastructure improvements in our county. Last Thursday we said goodbye to two county commissioners whose bid for re-election failed…and failed miserably. Sam Parker and James Calkins are moving on down the road, one is literally moving. Calkins sold his house in Milton and has moved out of Santa Rosa County. Not a bad idea, one we can all get behind. There probably would have been a line of volunteers to pack the moving truck if he had asked for help.

Navarre softball standout Renee Hester makes college decision
Renee Hester is sometimes mistakenly called Rachel, her older sister who currently plays college softball at Flagler.
They are no doubt two different people, but one thing they can both do is play the sport well, and it’s why Renee is headed to Canisius to continue her career.
