Jenna Bobbitt may be the best softball player to ever put on a Raider uniform, and that is saying a lot. This week, the Florida High School Coach’s Association agreed with that assessment and named her to the north squad for the state all-star tournament to be played in Ocala May 16 and 17. Bobbitt was also named to the Subway Northwest Florida All-star team consisting of Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa seniors in a game to be played May 22.

The Navarre High School Baseball Booster Club hosted the annual end of season awards banquet May 8 at the Club at Hidden Creek. Coach David Meredith presented individual awards to the following varsity players:

Forecasters called for a significant chance of heavy rain and storms May 10 in Navarre, but Ian Lockwood Memorial 5k race director Rebecca McCleery was hoping  it would hold off until at least 9:30 a.m., after the race ended. She got her wish.

Three Navarre High School athletes – Roman Spear, Alex Wattley and Christian Gill – competed Saturday in the FHSAA Class 3A state meet in Jacksonville and one came home with a second place medal.

The Lady Raiders were overwhelmed by Tate, 10 – 0 in the regional semifinal softball game played May 1 on the Aggies’ home field.

The Lady Raiders combined great pitching from freshman Hanna Stapleton and a sensational offensive and defensive performance by Shana Pearl to win a tight 4 – 3 game at Leon High School in the regional quarterfinal game April 24.

Last April, the girls from the Navarre High School class of 2014 made history by becoming the first group of underclasswomen to win the clash between the juniors and seniors. In the annual Powder Puff Flag Football Game held April 24 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium, the class of 2014 improved to 2-0, a record that can never be broken, only tied.

Navarre High School track and field athletes competed April 24 in the FHSAA Class 3A Regional Meet in Tallahassee. Roman Spear claimed the Raiders’ only win by clearing 13-06 in the pole vault. The top girl’s finisher was Kiante Miller who finished sixth in the 100 Meter Hurdles.

Navarre track and field athletes won six events in the Class 3A District meet held April 16 in Panama City. Raider runner Alex Wattley won the 100 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash and Roman Spear won the Pole Vault. For the girls, Hannah Gullickson won the 300 Meter Hurdles, Khori Netwon won the high jump and Kiera Foster won the triple jump.

Navarre 2, Niceville 1

The third seeded Lady Raiders combined great pitching and outstanding defense to upset number two seed Niceville 2 – 1 in the district semifinal game, held at Tate April 16. The Raiders scored both of their runs in the top of the first inning and had to hold that lead for the rest of the game. Shana Pearl walked to lead off the game. Adrianna Gonzalez’s sacrifice bunt moved Pearl to second base. Jenna Bobbitt doubled to right center and Pearl scored. With two out, Kamber Anderson singled Bobbitt home to give the Raiders a 2 – 0 lead.
