Raiders fall in overtime to Indians
When Marcus Richardson threw down a dunk with a minute to play in overtime of Navarre’s game against Choctaw Tuesday night, the Raiders were on the brink of a comeback win.
Clark wins junior tournament
Navarre senior Ailsa Clark won the girls division of the Southeast Junior Golf Tour tournament at Gulf Shores Club during the third weekend of November. Clark shot a 69 on Nov. 21, tallying five birdies along the way, and went into the Nov. 22 round with a five-shot lead over Kaide Farne of Destin. In the final round, with the wind blowing at 25 mph, Clark shot a 78 to secure the title. It marked the third time in the last six months that Clark has won a tournament.
Malter plays bigger role for Hawks this season
Blake Malter didn’t get much of a chance to play in his first season at Huntingdon College but his role has changed this year and he’s enjoying the experience.
Lady Raider out-lift Pine Forest, 65 – 25
The Raiders traveled to Pine Forest on Nov. 19 to face perhaps their closest competitor in the region. The Raiders handled their tough opponent by winning first place in eight of the 10 weight divisions, missing only the 110-pound and 119-pound weight divisions. They also won seven second places and three third places.
Lady Raiders roll over Gulf Breeze and Pace
The Lady Raiders met Gulf Breeze and Pace, two of the area’s best teams this week and won both games by identical 2 – 0 scores. The smothering defense of Brenda Bishop, Kaylynn Ennis, Mariah McKinney and Haylee Howard was outstanding. The Raiders now have a record of 10 – 1.
Raiders making progress despite tough start
Navarre’s girls basketball team went 1-2 last week but first-year head coach Jackie Coyne said the Raiders are taking steps in the right direction.

Raiders’ rally comes up short against Gators
Although Navarre’s boys basketball team came up short in a game against Escambia Saturday afternoon, falling 62-54, head coach Taf Bentley was pleased with the way his team battled the entire way as it nearly rallied for a win.

Lady Raider weightlifters flex their muscles with 77 – 9 win
The defending state champions looked the part in their first meet of the season in a resounding 77 – 9 victory over Fort Walton Beach at home on Nov. 12. The Raiders won every first place and all but one second place within each weight division.
