Although Gulf Breeze and Navarre are no longer in the same district, a strong rivalry still exists between the soccer programs. The Dolphins dominated the early meetings between the two teams. However, in the last four or five years, each team has won once and there have been several ties.

It was a huge win, a $10,000 win, for Tracey Sutton, driver of the #12 crate late model at Southern Raceway’s 100-lap race dubbed “The Big One.” After winning, an emotional Sutton thanked his sponsors, friends and family for their support and said the win “meant the world” to him.

The Lady Raiders started the week with a 3-0 road win over Mosley on Nov. 4. Two days later they defeated Crestview 10-0 at NYSA and finished the week with a scoreless tie against Leon at NYSA.

This year’s seniors were 9 or 10 years old and in the fourth grade.

Off to a good start, the Raiders defeated Fort Walton Beach and Mosley in a rare double header on Nov. 1. The pre-season games were played in Fort Walton Beach at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. under cold and blustery conditions. The Raiders won 4-2 over Fort Walton Beach in the morning game and defeated Mosley 2-0 in the afternoon contest.

Navarre reeled off six straight wins to start the 2014 season. Back to back setbacks at the hands of Niceville and Choctaw ruined the chances for an undefeated regular season. Throw in an off week and it had been nearly a month since the football team had experienced a victory on the field. The Dothan Tigers proved to be the perfect elixir for the bad taste in the Raiders’ mouths.

The Navarre High School Wahoos competed in the 2014 FHSAA Regional Swimming and Diving district meet Oct. 31 at Mosley High School in Panama City Beach. The men’s team ranked No. 21 while the women’s team finished ranked at No. 20. Dakota Middleton set a personal record in the Boys 50 Free event with a time of 23:35.
