Devin Wright said he has always been fast but has never had a chance to display that speed on the track in a competition against other schools.

Friends and family gathered March 6 to pay tribute to the 2017 State Champion Navarre Raiders’ Weightlifting team. It was another great season for the Raiders as they captured their third consecutive state championship and their fourth in the last five years.

Navarre’s boys weightlifting team didn’t win a regional championship Monday afternoon. Nor did the Raiders have any of their lifters take first in their respective weight class.

Navarre’s baseball team traveled to Bonifay last Tuesday to face Holmes County. The trip was made even longer due to the fact that the game went extra innings. It was worth it though, because Navarre came away with their third straight win, rolling to an 11-3 victory.

Down six runs in the top of the second inning against Choctaw last Tuesday night, it wasn’t looking good for Navarre’s softball team.

Navarre’s tennis teams split their two matches last week. The Raiders dominated Escambia Tuesday afternoon, with the girls rolling to a 6-1 win and the boys blanking the Gators 7-0.

Xavier Fernandez moved down a weight class this season but it had no impact on his ability to find himself in a familiar position Friday afternoon.

Navarre’s baseball team finally got the win it was looking for when it traveled to Pensacola last Tuesday and squared off against Washington. The Raiders knocked off the Wildcats 6-0.

Ty Stringfield had no real desire to play high school basketball when she was a freshman.

Navarre’s Tyrese Harvey managed to down a jam during the dunk contest that took place prior to the Subway All-Star Game Friday night at Pensacola State’s Hartsell Arena.
