Rage to compete at worlds
The Gulf Breeze Rage All Stars will compete in the international Cheerleading and Dance Worlds Competition from April 26-29 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World. According to a news release, the competition, produced by the United States All Star Federation and the International All Star Federation, is a “premiere championship” and will host the best cheer and dance teams from all over the world.

Special Olympics plans summer games
Special Olympics Escambia/Santa Rosa will host the Area 1 Summer Games beginning at 9 a.m. March 23 at Corry Station in Pensacola. Area 1 includes Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties.

Raider lifters take second at tri-meet
The Navarre High School weightlifters placed second in a three-team meet March 6 with Fort Walton Beach and Choctawhatchee at Fort Walton Beach. The Vikings demonstrated why they may be one of the favorites in the upcoming state meet by scoring 50 points. Navarre scored 34 points and Choctaw had 27. Five points were awarded for first place in a weight-division, three for second, two for third and one for fourth.

Mid-distance runners pace Raiders
Strong performances by Navarre High School’s middle-distance runners helped the Raiders finish third in the 14-team field Friday, March 2, at the 32nd Annual Frank Lay Patriot Invitational track and field meet at Pace.

Navarre softball: Four games, four wins
The Lady Raiders’ softball team played four away games in one week and won all four. Next week will be a key week for Navarre. The Raiders will be looking to avenge two early season losses to Pace and Tate.

Baseball Raiders honor Rollant
Navarre High School’s baseball program honored long-time supporter Dan Rollant, the late restaurateur who brought Vinnie R’s Italian Restaurant to Navarre, on Friday before losing 7-2 to visiting rival Pace. The Raiders started the week with home wins against Pensacola and Pine Forest.

The Pensacola Sports Association recently announced the rosters for the 2013 Subway High School All-Star Basketball Games which will be played Friday, March 8 at Pensacola State College.

Raider lifters win three-team meet at Pace
Navarre High School’s weightlifting team traveled to Pace on Feb. 25 to compete in a three-team meet and came away with the narrowest of victories. Led by first-place finishes in the 139-, 183-, 199-, 219- and 238-weight divisions, Navarre won the event with 42 points. Pace placed second with 41 and Escambia was a close third with 38 points. Because the meet included three teams, the scoring within a weight division was 5 points for first, three for second, two for third and 1 point for fourth. The fourth-place finishes became very important for the overall scoring.

The Navarre High School girls’ soccer team held its postseason banquet Feb. 25 at The Club at Hidden Creek’s Tuscan Grille.
