The Navarre High School girls and boys golf teams both get to keep playing for another week as each team advanced to regionals.

Navarre earned its second straight and third-ever district title in dramatic fashion Friday, scoring 28 unanswered points to beat Choctawhatchee 35-28 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. Two fumbled kickoffs helped the Indians (5-3, 0-1 in District 2-6A play) build a 28-14 halftime lead, but Navarre (5-3, 2-0) stormed back after intermission.

The Navarre Raiders’ four-game winning streak was snapped last Friday as the Niceville Eagles’ defense dominated host Navarre in a 26-0 rout Friday at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. The loss also snapped a string of three straight wins for Navarre (4-3) against its Okaloosa County rival.

The early bird gets the worm — or at least runs very well in cross country meets.  The Raiders had to board a bus at 4:30 a.m. for the 90-minute trek to their meet last Saturday.  Despite the early travel time, the Navarre High boys and girls cross country team both finished fourth in the 5th Annual Mosley Dolphin Dash held in Lynn Haven, just outside of Panama City.

Navarre blocked a pair of Milton field goal attempts in the first half and allowed the Panthers just a single first down and 13 total yards after halftime to secure a 19-0 non-district road win Friday.
