Twenty minutes before tip-off and Rutherford still hasn’t arrived to the gym to take on Navarre Monday afternoon.

With just over seven minutes to play in a 6A regional semifinal Friday night, it was starting to become much easier to detect the exhaustion in Navarre’s football team.

Caitlin Bethell had already satisfied her appetite for a win late Thursday night, helping the East defeat the West in six games in the Subway All-Star Volleyball Game.

Navarre put together another successful week on the soccer field, shutting out Pace and Ocean Springs and then battling fellow regional power Niceville to a tie. The Raiders improved to 4-0-2 overall and are 3-0-1 in district play.

Navarre’s girls weightlifting team had scheduled a home meet against Choctaw for Nov 14. However, the Raider football coaches, who also judge the weightlifting meets, needed time to prepare for the regional semifinal game against St. Augustine.

It wasn’t enough that the University of West Florida football team made the playoffs for the first time in program history.

Navarre’s girls soccer team was impressive in its first week of the regular season, giving up just three goals in three games and winning two of them.

Navarre head coach Jay Walls was asked an important question after the Raiders survived a 49-47 shootout with Niceville Friday night.

Navarre’s girls weightlifting team traveled to Niceville to take on a much-improved Eagle squad. However, after all of the points were counted, the mighty Raiders continued their dominance with a 65-25 victory over the Eagles.

Garren Harper isn’t on anyone’s scouting report. Until Friday night, the senior tight end had not caught a pass this season.
