The Lady Raiders won the season opener in dominating fashion with a 9-1 victory against Catholic High in Pensacola last Tuesday. They followed that up with a 2-1 win over Mosley on Wednesday.

The Navarre High School boys soccer team had a win and a tie last week as it tied Gulf Breeze 2 – 2 on Oct. 29 and beat Choctaw 2 – 0 two days later in a preseason tourney held at the Twin Oaks Complex in Niceville. Coach Zac Preston was more interested in seeing his team perform under real playing conditions rather than the final score of the games.

The Lady Raiders soccer team beat a very good Pensacola High team 2 – 0 in the first preseason game at NYSA on Oct. 24. Two days later, they scored a solid 4 – 2 win over another powerhouse, West Florida, in their second preseason match.

The Lady Raiders finished fifth at the District 2, Class 3A Cross Country Meet (a 5K race-3.2 miles) at Lynn Haven Mosley High School last Saturday. Running in the same district as perennial powerhouses Fort Walton, Niceville, and Choctaw, the ladies finished just 50 points from qualifying the team for Regionals.

Navarre earned its second straight and third-ever district title in dramatic fashion Friday, scoring 28 unanswered points to beat Choctawhatchee 35-28 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. Two fumbled kickoffs helped the Indians (5-3, 0-1 in District 2-6A play) build a 28-14 halftime lead, but Navarre (5-3, 2-0) stormed back after intermission.
