Lighthouse Private Christian Academy’s football team dropped a close game to Jefferson County Friday night.

Despite a running clock in the second half, it was a long night for the Navarre Raiders Friday against Choctawhatchee.

Navarre alum Jordan Jefferson will begin year two in the NFL with a new team.


Jefferson is headed to San Francisco after the 49ers claimed him off waivers a day after Jacksonville cut him.

Devin Wright and Ryan Hunt both played their high school football locally and now get a chance to do the same at the college level.


Wright has been with the Argos since graduating from Navarre in 2022. Hunt is a Milton alum and transferred in from Middle Tennessee State last season.

Navarre’s football team aims to bounce back this week after dropping its opener against Pensacola Catholic.


The Raiders will get their shot Friday night when they hit the road to face Choctaw at 7 p.m. at Joe Etheredge Stadium.

Jaya McDonald had a pretty good freshman year of golf with the Navarre Raiders.


She proved to be one of the area’s best and even made it to the regional tournament.

But in the end, it never happened as the Raiders were swept by the Patriots in a rematch of last year’s regional quarterfinal.

Georgia Downs had a productive summer in weightlifting, punching a ticket to nationals in Colorado.


She said the experience was pretty cool.

Grady Kelly didn’t need much time to adapt to the football side of things when he arrived at Michigan State in the spring.


And while he has joined a new football program for the third time in his college career, he felt welcomed from the jump in East Lansing.
