Teams learn a lot about themselves when things don’t go right.

Nearly a month into the season, Navarre’s swim team is making strides.

Schools are on their own when it comes to supporting their athletic programs.

Jaydin Antonio was behind the defender as the ball spiraled toward him. Wide open, he made the catch on the 77-yard play and ran untouched to the end zone for Navarre’s first touchdown of the night.

Navarre’s volleyball team returned to the court at Escambia last Tuesday. The Gators gave the Raiders a good fight, but Navarre prevailed in the end, winning its second match of the year.

Another road game, another win.

Matt Horton finished his race at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday in under 20 minutes. The Navarre cross-country standout clocked in with a time of 19:24.71 and finished 23rd overall on a hot and humid morning at the Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola.

Devin Parnell spent Thursday afternoon on the driving range. At least the first part of it.

Lighthouse Private Christian Academy is in the win column for the first time. The Stingrays rolled past St. Paul II 56-8 Friday night at Brent Park in Pensacola.

It would have been easy for the University of West Florida football team to take it easy against Shorter Saturday night, maybe not play its best game, knowing the Hawks haven’t won a game since 2015.
