Raiders out-lift Washington 45-35

Navarre High School’s lifters warmed up for the district championships by defeating host Booker T. Washington 45-35 March 13 in Pensacola. The Raiders were led by first-place finishes by T.J. Woodberry, Kody Kelley, Mitch Posey, Jay Warren, Nick Benton, Mitch Posey and Devin Colonel.

Tiger Point Golf Course announces new hires

Tiger Point Golf Club recently announced the hiring of Amy Luna and Scott Crum. Luna is the new director of sales and marketing. Crum will be the superintendent of the golf course.

Lady Raiders lose to Tate and Pace

The Lady Raiders’ softball team failed last week to avenge early season losses to Tate and Pace. The Tate Aggies were first on Navarre’s schedule and, although the March 12 game in Cantonment was much closer than the first game the teams played, the Raiders lost 5-4. The result was much worse for the Pace game March 15 at home as the Raiders lost to the Patriots 10-2.

Friends and family joined Navarre High School senior Hayley Naker on March 12 in the school’s cafeteria/auditorium, where she signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.

The first Decire’ Febus Memorial Track Meet was a success for the Raiders, who honored the late Navarre High School homecoming queen and track athlete – and focused attention on the dangers of drinking and driving – at the three-team competition on Tuesday, March 12.

Errors, grand slams cost Raiders

Slumping Navarre fell to 6-7 after losing 6-0 to Jay, Okla., in the first round of the Aggie Classic high school baseball tournament Monday. The loss was the Raiders’ third straight and Navarre’s first shutout loss of the season. The Maroon and Black were scheduled to play Edmond, Okla., North on Tuesday at West Florida High School. The tournament, featuring 22 local and out-of-state teams, continues through today, Thursday March 21, when the two top-seeded teams and third- and fourth-seeded teams will play at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, at Community Maritime Park in Pensacola.
