Celebrities hit fairways of Hidden Creek

The fairways and greens at Club at Hidden Creek Locals will become stages for celebrities this weekend. The public is invited to come out to Hole No. 1 at 1 p.m. Saturday and watch local pro golfer Boo Weekley and national TV star Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty hit the links for Weekley’s annual charity golf tourney.

State champions attempt to reload quickly

The Raider girls’ weightlifting team won the school’s only state title in February when the team sent 11 girls to the state championship held in Kissimmee. Six Raiders were on the podium to receive individual medals when the competition ended and the Raiders won the state team title by one point. Of the six individual medal winners from the state competition, the Raiders lost five through graduation.

Volleyball club looking to expand

The Navarre Beach Volleyball Club currently consists of three teams that play in the Gulf Coast Region and travel to tournaments between Mobile and Panama City. The club has been in existence for two years, and plans for expansion are already in the works.

Christian Gill excels at the end game

Christian Gill burst on to the Raider football scene in a Kickoff Classic game against Milton in his sophomore year. In his first start, the defensive end recorded eight tackles and three sacks in one half of play. The Raider coaches and opponents quickly took notice, and Gill finished that year with a selection to the all-area second team as a defensive end in only his sophomore season.

Yoga on a stand up paddle board stretches the limits

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., a stand up paddle yoga class can be seen in session on the water in front of Juana’s Pagoda. Started in March by Patricia Dittrick, the class offers both fitness and relaxation.
